| Alter Your Motifs ©2008 by Mike Prigodich | An interesting progression and bebop-like melody during the head written in the style of Chick Corea. |
| Armando's Birthday ©2011 by Mike Prigodich
| Armando's Birthday (in honor of Chick Corea's 70th birthday) ©2011 by Mike Prigodich. This is from our 2011-11-25 gig at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon. MPEG (Melz/Prigodich/Erskine Group) -- Featuring Mike Prigodich (piano), John Nastos (sax), Damian Erskine (bass), Reinhardt Melz (drums), Rafael Trujillo (congas). The video quality isn't great using my old Zoom Q3 (not the HD version, just a single camera angle), but I merged in a mix from the board recording so it sounds pretty good considering we were sight-reading this tune for the first time, having only run through it briefly during sound check. |
| Blues In Suspense ©2009 by Mike Prigodich | A 24-bar blues It's a 24-bar "blues" (really a 12-bar blues with a 12-bar turn around) that uses suspended 4ths and other unexpected chord changes instead of the usual dominant 7th chords in 5/4 written in honor of the late Michael Brecker. Sounds a bit like Dave Brubeck meets Bud Powell meets Chick Corea. |
| Don't Draw The Line ©1992 by Mike Prigodich | An imitation Toto-style tune with vocals I wrote back in college. This is live gig open-air recording with poor audio quality, but it features Dove Award winner Nicol Smith Sponberg on vocals and some great drumming by Rich Trelease. I actually got Steve Porcaro from Toto to listen to this recording and he loved it! |
| Kate's Antic ©2011 by Mike Prigodich
| Kate's Antic ©2011 by Mike Prigodich (written for Kickstarter donor Rob Lucke who suggested the title and commissioned the piece). This is from our 2011-11-25 gig at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon. MPEG (Melz/Prigodich/Erskine Group) -- Featuring Mike Prigodich (piano), John Nastos (sax), Damian Erskine (bass), Reinhardt Melz (drums), Rafael Trujillo (congas). The video quality isn't great using my old Zoom Q3 (not the HD version, just a single camera angle), but I merged in a mix from the board recording so it sounds pretty good considering we haven't rehearsed for over a year, and this tune in particular has only ever been "rehearsed" by sight reading it on live gigs. |
| Mexican Mocha ©2001 by Mike Prigodich | A latin fusion tune in the style of Chick Corea written in honor of my favorite morning beverage. |
| Play Structure ©2011 by Mike Prigodich | A somewhat flamenco inspired 3/4 tune (6/8 feel) in the spirit of Chick Corea's composition Little Flamenco (recorded by Origin). This is from our 2011-11-25 gig at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon. MPEG (Melz/Prigodich/Erskine Group) -- Featuring Mike Prigodich (piano), John Nastos (sax), Damian Erskine (bass), Reinhardt Melz (drums), Rafael Trujillo (congas). This is a mix from the board recording so it sounds pretty good considering we haven't rehearsed for over a year, and this tune in particular has only ever been "rehearsed" by sight reading it on live gigs. Thanks to Tony Stovin for running sound that night and recording the gig with his Pro Tools rig. Thanks also to David Mathew for mixing the raw tracks to get things sounding as good as possible (EQ, volume levels, panning, and other magic tricks).

| Play Tonic Relationships ©2008 by Mike Prigodich | The tune really needs a tenor sax solo (a la Michael Brecker) and a horn section. There's also a Russell Ferrante/Bob Mintzer/YellowJackets/Brecker Brothers/Victor Wooten/Mike Stern influence. |
| Someday Syndrome ©2008 by Mike Prigodich | My ode to procrastination. A fusion tune in 7/4 written in honor of the Progression Jam Session at the Someday Lounge in Portland, OR hosted by Ben Darwish, where the rule was to play originals or call standards in odd time signatures. It sounds a bit like something that Spyro Gyra or the YellowJackets would do. |
| The Sky Is Falling ©2009 by Mike Prigodich | My fusion tune in 6/4 and 5/4 I named "The Sky Is Falling" in honor of our economy. I toyed with a silly play on words like "This Guy Is Pho Ling" but the tune doesn't sound "Thai" enough. Inspired by the Yellowjackets and Andy Milne's Dapp Theory. |
| The Reel McCoy ©2009 by Mike Prigodich | A Scottish reel inspired by McCoy Tyner's Passion Dance and Michael Brecker's Itsbynne Reel. |
| Upbeat @ Etude ©2009 by Mike Prigodich | My piano teacher said it reminded him of Joe Henderson and Chick Corea. Plus, there's a bit of black gospel thrown in at the end for fun, a la Don Grusin and the Yellowjackets. |
